New Delhi: The 90s actress Somy Ali, who came to Bollywood as a teenager, and rose to fame because of her relationship with Salman Khan, has now written an autobiography disclosing that she was sexually abused at the age of five.

Ali met Salman through a common friend and they dated for about eight years before their split in 1999-2000. The rumors, after their split, suggested that Ali was not fond of Salman's drinking habits and his aggressive behaviour.

Soon after the breakup, the actress, who was originally from Pakistan, moved to Florida, to start an NGO called No More Tears (NMT) that helps women who have been sexually abused.

In a recent interview to an Indian daily, Ali talked about her own experiences of being sexually abused. She said that she was assaulted by a house-help when she was just five years old. She also said that while growing up she was a witness to domestic violence in her house and also saw her relatives and her mother's friends suffer from it and remain silent about it. She said that she is talking about it today to inspire others to talk about it and make them feel that they are not alone in their suffering. Ali recently celebrated the eight anniversary of her organistaion, (NMT) on March 27.

Talking about her former relationship with Salman Kham, she spoke about the rumour of Salman hitting her with a cola bottle on the head. She said that the episode was wrongly narrated, Salman was unhappy about her trying alcohol and so he threw her drink in the table.
