Salman Khan House Firing Case Accused Seeks Bail, Claims Motive Was Not To Harm Actor
The court has now asked the Mumbai police crime branch to reply to accused Gupta's bail plea. The next hearing will take place on August 13.

In a big development in the Salman Khan house firing case, accused Vicky Kumar Gupta has filed a bail plea in the special MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) court. As reported by Hindustan Times, in his plea, Gupta claimed that the firing was allegedly orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang not to harm the Bollywood superstar but to only threaten him.

Gupta admitted that the plan by executed by him and another accused named Sagar Kumar Pal. He claimed that during the coronavirus pandemic, he lost his job as a labourer in Tamil Nadu following which he contacted Pal, who hailed from his native place. Pal sent Gupta to Jalandhar in Punjab to work as a driver. However, Gupta was then asked to visit Mumbai on an “auspicious religious mission”.

After reaching Mumbai, Gupta was called by Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi who told him about the plan. Gupta further claimed that he agreed to fire gunshots because Anmol gave him “confidence that nothing will happen to him (to Gupta)”. He was further told that his role was limited to riding the bike and ferrying Pal to Bandra. “It was Pal who fired the rounds at Khan’s house,” he said.

In his bail plea, Gupta also informed the court that he is the only earning member in his family and therefore, it is important for him to go out of jail.

The court has now asked the Mumbai police crime branch to reply to Gupta’s bail plea. The next hearing will take place on August 13.

In April this year, gunshots were fired outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Later, it was reported that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is alleged to be behind the attack as the gangster’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the shooting incident via a Facebook post.

Last month, it was reported that Salman Khan also opened up about the alleged threats he and his family members have been getting from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang over the years while recording his statement to the anti-extortion cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch.

“I heard a cracker-like sound. Then, at around 4.55 am, the police bodyguard said that two people on a bike had fired from a weapon at the Galaxy Apartment’s first-floor balcony. There had been attempts to hurt me and my family prior to this as well. I have learnt that Lawrence Bishnoi has taken responsibility for the attack from social media. So, I believe that it is the Lawrence Bishnoi gang who have carried out the firing on my balcony,” he said.

After the shocking incident, Salman Khan’s security was upgraded.
