The trailer of Mandakini, written and directed by Vinod Leela, has been released. The film stars Altaf Salim and Anarkali Marikar. The movie is produced by Sanju Unnithan under the banner of Spire Productions. The cinematography is by Shiju M Bhaskar, and music by Bibin Ashok. Mandakini is a comedy entertainer and features the lead actors as a married couple. It also stars Ganapathi, Jafar Idukki, Sarita Kuku, Vineet Thattil, Ashwati Srikanth, Kutty Akhil, Akhila Nath, Ala S. Naina, Guinness Vinod, Rashmi Anil, Babita Basheer, Pratish Jacob, Ambili Sunil, Akhil Shah and Ajim Shah in important roles in the films. Anarkali is playing the role of Ambili in the film, where Altaf is playing the role of Aromal.
Mandakini will hit theatres on May 24 this year.
Earlier, Althaf Salim has expressed his excitement for the film’s release on the social media platform. “Happily wrapped up the shoot of my First movie as the lead character with the amazing co-star Anarkali. Thanks to the wonderful team,” he shared on Instagram with a poster depicting festivities of the wedding.
Althaf is set to start shooting for his film Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, which stars Fahadh Faasil and Kalyani Priyadarshan.
Altaf Salim also worked in many films like Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela (2017) and Premam (2015). He made his directorial debut with the Nivin Pauly-starrer Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela.
Anarkali Marikar is known for her lead roles in the Gaganachari, Aanandam (2016) and Amala (2021).
Mandakini marks the debut of visionary Malayalam filmmaker and scriptwriter, Vinod Leela. He was born in Kalady and studied cinematography at the esteemed Chetana Media Institute. Starting his journey with shorts such as God of Small Things, he gained recognition for his innovative storytelling with pieces such as Kalpadukal and Suhra. His journey demonstrates his dedication to technical brilliance and sophisticated storytelling.
