The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) on Friday night celebrated exemplary work in Indian cinema with a dazzling awards presentation. This year’s awards recognised some of the most exceptional performers and films from the industry, making it an amazing night for both the winners and the audience. Among others, Kartik Aaryan won the Best Actor Award for Chandu Champion. While the actor collected this prestigious award, the audience cheered loudly to show their support to their favourite star.
An inside video from the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne shows how the host announces Kartik’s name and calls him on stage. But even before the actor could make it to the stage, the audience burst out cheering and chanting his name. Fans also reacted to this video from the event, stating he is the “upcoming big star” while another person praised him saying, “Amazing Kartik Aaryan.”
Chandu Champion is based on the inspirational life of boxer Murlikant Petkar. His life was flipped upside down when he became crippled as a result of an injury sustained during the 1965 Indo-Pakistan war. Despite his horrific injuries, Murlikant Petkar refused to give up. He recovered and went on to win India’s first Paralympic gold medal in swimming. The film was helmed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
Kartik Aaryan also posted a picture of himself on Instagram clutching an award. In the caption, he wrote, “Chandu Champion – Best Actor. Honoured and humbled to receive this award! Thank you IFFM for my first one for #ChanduChampion. It’s been an incredible journey, and I couldn’t have done it without the tireless support of Kabir sir and Sajid sir, who believed in me every step of the way. My fans, your unwavering love and encouragement have fueled me throughout these two challenging years. This is for all of us.”
The 15th IFFM Awards brought together some of India’s most known artists, making it a night to remember. The festival, which takes place this year from August 15 to August 25, presents a broad range of films that exhibit the rich tapestry of Indian cinema.
Kartik Aaryan will next be seen in Anees Bazmee’s film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. This film will be released theatrically on November 12. Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Vijay Raaz and other actors play major roles in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
