Armaan Kohli has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Kohli was arrested from his Mumbai residence for illegally possessing 41 bottles of liquor. Majority of them were purchased overseas, reports the Times of India.
According to the laws, one isn’t allowed to have more than 12 units of hard liquor like scotch, whisky and rum in their possession for more than a month. Also, the law prohibits one from bringing more than one bottle of liquor at a time from abroad.
The police interrogated him at the Bandra excise station in order to ascertain the cost of the entire stock that was found in his possession.
As per section 63(E) of Bombay Liquor Prohibition Act, 1949, if found guilty, the actor could be jailed for up to three years, with a fine to be decided by the court.
This is not the first time that Armaan is facing legal troubles. Earlier in July this year, he was arrested from Lonavala after an FIR was lodged by his live-in partner Neeru Randhawa. She accused Kohli of physical assault. Later, the Bombay High Court quashed the FIR against Armaan, after he paid a hefty compensation to Neeru.
"The High Court has directed the superintendent of Arthur Road jail to release him (Armaan) as the matter has been quashed and nothing remains pending," Armaan's lawyer Lakshmi Raman told IANS.
The High Court judge had also demanded an affidavit from Armaan saying he regrets whatever happened and that he will never attempt such an act ever again.
Kohli marked his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Vidrohi. He also participated in Bigg Boss season 7.
