Amitabh Bachchan played the immortal Ashwatthama in Kalki 2898 AD. The film has emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters this year.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has teased the makers of Kalki 2898 AD are plannng something special to celebrate the film’s blockbuster success. The actor, in his recent blog, revealed that special shows of the film are likely to be hosted for fans. Kalki 2898 AD released on June 27. Within a month, the film has surpassed Rs 1100 Cr gross and is inching closer to the box office collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.

Taking to his blog, Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “We are in the process of planning to show to a few limited the film KALKI and I work towards it .. but please do not take this as an invitation yet .. the planning is in process .. IN PROCESS .. it may fructify it may not .. My love till then and more.”

Director Nag Ashwin and the producers are yet to comment on this news.

Despite spending five weeks at the cinemas, Kalki 2898 AD is still going strong. Trade expert Taran Adarsh revealed that Kalki 2898 AD minted Rs 5 Cr last week despite competition from films like Deadpool & Wolverine and Bad Newz. “Despite reduced showcasing in Weekend 5, #Kalki2898AD holds its ground against the #DeadpoolAndWolverine juggernaut, pulling off a healthy weekend at the #BO,” he said, revealing the film has collected Rs 286.35 Cr in Hindi alone.

Vyjayanthi Movies revealed Kalki 2898 AD has collected Rs 1100 Cr worldwide.

For the unversed, Kalki 2898 AD became the talk of the town since its relaese. The film heavily draws inspiration from Mahabharat. The film is set in a dystopian future and revolves around four people — a pregnant woman named Sumathi (Deepika Padukone), who is said to be carrying a child that is the 10th avatar of Vishnu; the immortal Ashwatthama (played by Amitabh Bachchan) who has been tasked to protect the unborn child; a ruthless villain named Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), who wants the child dead for he knows the child will be the end of the baddie; and Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter who would sell anyone in return of money.

The film will return with a sequel which will focus on Kamal Haasan as a villain.
