Rajasthan Women Commission Chairperson Ladkumari Jain on Thursday said she would not resign from the post despite the withdrawl of statutory privileges by the BJP government. Jain said she will continue to work till her term expires later this year by November 2014.
"The new government having a woman Chief Minister has shown a cheap mentality so that the persons sitting on statutory commissions and bodies tender their resignations after withdrawal of privileges and facilities given as Minister of state or deputy minister status," Jain said in Jaipur. Jain's office procured a copy of order from CMO on Wednesday.
As per the commission's act and rules, the new government has no power to remove the chairman of commission or board, nor could withdraw facilities, she said adding under certain conditions like bankruptcy, criminal nature, and other serious terms the chairman could be sacked.
"I will ask the government to disclose the reason of withdrawing facilities and status of minister (state). If facilities are restricted then how would the chairperson continue to discharge his duties in villages and cities," she said.
