Municipal Affairs and Urban Development minister Asok Bhattacharjee honoured Soma Biswas and Pinki Pramanik by alloting three and half katha land to each of them.
The medal winners were felicitated at the River Festival, an annual event which attempts to create better awareness about the importance of rivers, in Kolkata.
The felicitation comes weeks after the Tamil Nadu government honoured controversy-hit Shanthi Soundarajan, who won the silver in the 800 metres for women.
