International working president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Praveen Togadia on Tuesday said the real problem being faced in Assam is the illegal immigration from Bangladesh which is being ignored by the central and state governments.
Addressing newsmen here, he said the ongoing violence in Assam and the threats being issued to the Northeast people across the country triggering their exodus from various places had led to displacement of about five lakh people.
A majority of these victims were the aboriginal tribes of the Northeast including Hindus and non- Muslims, he said.
Instead of addressing the real issue, the central and state governments were diverting the attention of the people to how Pakistan sent fake MMS and spread rumours, Togadia alleged.
“What is coming out in Assam now is just the tip of the iceberg. The severity of infiltration in the Northeast is a risk to India’s safety and security,” Togadia said.
All over the country there were about 3 crore Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators. They need to be deported on a war-footing, he said.
The VHP leader demanded that all those displaced due to the Assam violence should be given a rehabilitation package by the state and central governments.
Arrangements should be made to send them back to their places of work and study and ensure that they got back their jobs and seats in educational institutions.
They should also be provided financial aid.
Togadia also demanded that a special Northeast India Insurance scheme be introduced for all the Northeast Indians (not for Bangladeshi Muslims) with the respetive states of their origin paying the premium.
