CHENNAI: Armed with reports from “experts” in the US, Swami Nithyananda on Thursday reiterated that the video that showed him with actress Ranjitha was fake. Addressing a crowded press conference here, Nithyananda claimed that four video-audio forensic experts from the US had declared that the video was morphed, fake and manipulated. Herbert Joe of the Yonovitz and Joe, LLP, Park City, UT, David Notowitz, of the National Center for Audio and Video Forensics, Los Angeles, Edward Joe of Primeau Productions and Bryan Neumeister, a certified federal US forensic expert, have certified that the video was fake, he claimed.Releasing copies of the reports of US experts, Nithyananda said he was targeted in an unfair and unjustifiable manner by a section of the media. Asked why he did not take certification from Indian experts, he said that the manipulators had used cutting edge technology to create the fake video.“To disprove this type of hi-tech fake video, I needed the assistance of high end technology. That is available in the US and that is why I had to take certification from them,” he said.Asked if his interaction with the Press would not influence investigation at a time when his former associate Lenin Karuppan had been remanded, Nithyananda, using a legal parlance (Evidence Act, 1872) said that he was only speaking on ‘admitted facts.’ Reiterating allegations, he said that a total of `42 lakh was forcibly taken away from his disciples and associates by a Tamil magazine and a TV channel through ‘blackmail.’ Alleging that Lenin colluded with representatives of the magazine and TV channel in extorting money, he urged that he be brought to book. What US reports say?The reports circulated to the media by Nithyananda claimed that the video was fake. Bryan Neumeister in his report citing the Forensic Science Lab report of Delhi on the sleazy video said it was only an inventory of what was received and it did reflect performance of forensic tests. The report also did not answer technical questions like “type of codec native to the camera.” Edward Joe said: “There appears to be video images layered on top of each other. Indications of video composite layering is seen. If the flickering were a result of light source, the television would be flickering. I have never seen such a grossly edited, defamatory video.” Other experts cited non- availability of audio to substantiate that the video was fake.
