Jaunpur: Have you imagined what children can do? Most of the adults believe that children are only busy with their studies, games and try to do mischief. But some children can put the grown up to shame by doing work which is not easy even for an adult person. One such child is Saloni Gupta, who is studying in Class 7 in a school in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. Saloni wants to draw the attention of the people towards a big risk.
Saloni Gupta says the electric wires are not insulated on the route which children take to get to their school and even the wires around the transformers are in the open. She points out that open wires near the transformer shows that electricity department's negligence and carelessness, and it can lead to a major tragedy.
Saloni says her school principal has requested the administration to remove the transformer but no action has taken yet. She also adds that the transformer is not only a risk for school children but there are many places in the city which have open transformers with several people living in its vicinity.
In Jaunpur there are more than a dozen places where the transformer is in an open area. Saloni has been going to electricity department officers with her school mates and says that it is the responsibility of the District Magistrate to protect the people from such carelessness.
Saloni says that her aim is to not only bring the matter to the attention of the district officials, but to also ensure that measures are taken to cover the transformers as soon as possible.
