Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad ASP Rajesh Sahni was found dead at ATS office in Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow on Tuesday after he allegedly shot himself with his service revolver.
Speaking on the issue, ADG Law and Order, Anand Kumar said, “It is very sad day today as one of the most able officers committed suicide at 12:45 hours. The reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained by the Lucknow police. A thorough investigation is underway.”
According to preliminary information, Sahni had gone to work even on his off day and had asked his driver to get his service pistol before shooting self.
Senior officers rushed to the spot as soon as they came to know about the incident. According to family, Sahni was one of the most able IPS officers and also he had been a part of many successful operations, including arrest of an ISI agent last week.
Sahni, who had worked as a producer of a national news channel along with his wife Soni, joined PPS services in 1992 and was promoted as ASP in 2013.
