Betul (Madhya Pradesh): Bharatiya Janashakti (BJ) president Uma Bharti has threatened to pull down the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh within 48 hours if she found people are not happy with it.
Uma, while addressing a public meeting as part of her Bharat Bachao Yatra on Monday night, said she would approach people at block level and enquire from them about the functioning of the government in October.
She said the BJP high command sent her to Madhya Pradesh when the Digvijay Singh Government had claimed it would come to power for the third time.
''I accepted the challenge and fought the elections. Public blessed me and a record success was achieved in the husting. However, when the time came to fulfill the promises made to people, I was removed from the party,'' the fiery leader said.
Attacking the Madhya Pradesh government, she said the BJP had become the photocopy of the Congress, which indulged in red tapism and encouraged corruption.
Pointing out that the aim of the BJ was welfare of the country, Uma said they were not against Islam but would not permit fundamentalists to have a foothold in the country.
She claimed the BJ would achieve in two years what the BJP had achieved in 12 year's under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's leadership.
''It took Atalji 20 years to form government at the Centre but we will complete the journey in five years,'' she added.
Former Union Minister Prahlad Patel said politics had lost direction in the country in the past three decades.
He pointed out democracy had great power which forced leaders to go back to people every five years. However, public supported them who had fought for values and principles.
Patel said the BJP did not know how to run the government, while the Congress did not know to function as a strong opposition. Both were indulged in robbing the public.
