HYDERABAD: A two-day ‘Retirement India Expo 2011’ was inaugurated here on Saturday. The expo brings together various services and products from banks, insurance companies, housing societies for the benefit of senior citizens. Inaugurating the expo, justice Subhashan Reddy, former chairman of the AP Human Rights Commission, requested the state government to implement the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007, Qeffectively. He expressed disappointment over various government Acts which never saw the light of the day.Dr Sheilu Sreenivasan, founder of Dignity Foundation, the NGO which organised the expo, felt senior citizens were being neglected by the government despite contributing for the economy for nearly 60 years.The expo will also organise aerobics for senior citizens along with other cultural activities. ‘Jeshta Nagrik Sunwayi’, would be held on Sunday where senior citizens can seek expert opinion on insurance, financial planning, housing solution and health.
