Two snatchers held, 7 necklaces recovered

BHUBANESWAR: Hours after two miscreants snatched a necklace from a woman in Jagannath Vihar area of the City, a Special Squad of the Commissionerate of Police tracked down the two snatchers. At least seven gold necklaces and three bikes have been recovered from their possession. The two are believed to have been involved in a number of such snatching incidents reported in the City in the past few weeks. More valuables are expected during the investigation process.  On Saturday evening, Sandhyarani Samantray was going home on foot after accompanying her daughter to a tutorial class when the miscreants snatched her necklace after a scuffle. After an FIR was lodged, a joint team of Special Squad and Khandagiri Police swung into action. What aided the police in their investigation was that mobile phone of one of the miscreants had dropped during the scuffle while Samantray had noted the registration number of the bike used in the crime. DCP Nitinjit Singh said investigation was continuing in the case to dig out more details.
