Two engineers were arrested on charges of accepting bribe in connection with the MGNREGA projects in Hazaribagh district, vigilance sources said here on Monday.
Assistant Engineer Ajit Kumar Himanghsu and junior engineer Jai Prakash Nirala of MGNREGA project of Barhi block were arrested by a vigilance team. The team members, headed by Deputy Superintendent (Vigilance) Charanvas Tirkey, caught the two red handed while each was allegedly accepting Rs 5000 from a contractor, Sanjay Sao, for clearing his bill of Rs 4.64 lakh, the sources said.
The amount of the contractor was pending from November 2012, the sources said, adding a trap had been laid on the basis of Sao's complaint.
