Thiruvananthapuram: In what appears to be a case of filicide, two dead bodies were found near the railway track in Thiruvananthapuram's Madhavapuram village on Saturday morning.

Locals saw the bodies of Seba (9) and Sebin (6) at around 10 am. According to police, the search for their father, Shafi, is on. They suspect that 36-year-old Shafi committed suicide after murdering his kids over a quarrel with his wife.

An officer said that the kids had injury marks on their back and they recovered a machete, a bike, and a severed hand, from the spot.

The search for Shafi is on even in the nearby Veli Lake where the body, according to police, may have fallen due to the impact when he jumped in front of a train.

"By looking at the bodies and the severed hand, we can say that the incident occurred this morning," police said. Seba and Sebin were born to Shafi and Hannah Joy who lived in Chenthilode near Kannammoola. The couple was involved in a dispute and a divorce case had been filed in the family court.

Shafi was a dubbing artist and had been out of work for a while. Hannah Joy was an LD Clerk. Shafi left the house Friday evening, taking the two kids along after the couple had an altercation. Hannah filed a missing complaint before the Medical College Police after Shafi and kids didn't return home.
