HYDERABAD: Students and teachers develop an unbreakable and irreplacable bond --- something that lasts forever, no matter how old one gets. Several years after school also, when someone spots their teacher at an unexpected place, the excitement is immense. Madhubala Kapoor, principal of Nasr school in the city couldn’t agree more. Talking about the special bond that she has shared with her students, Kapoor confesses, “I remember every student I have taught and whenever I run into them, they are so thrilled to know that I remember their names.” She further recollects, “I have had a great bond with my teachers and also all my students.” Kapoor, who has been teaching for 30 years now says that she enjoys being in class more than the administrative work. “Education has been in my family --- my father was also a teacher. Even though now I have more of adminitrative work, I simply love teaching and love being with children.” N V Mohila, senior teacher at Little Flower High School, Abids, feels the same. “I have loved teaching since I was a kid, so much so that I used to give tuitions to my neighbours’ kids. I have been in this profession for 26 years now and still teach every year with the same enthusiasm because I love teaching and love my students. Earlier this school was an all boys school. Boys are so affectionate, so much so, that they still stay in touch and also invite us to their wedding and other important occasions.” There are some new additions to the teacher community in the city and they have already felt the bond being developed between them and the students. Neha Rawalyani, who has recently started teaching the L.K.G students at Octofun school shares, “My teachers have been a great inspiration to me and I have learnt a lot from them. Now that I am a teacher, I hope I can inspire my students as well. Teaching the little kids and spending time teaching them at their most important stage of growth gives me immense satisfation. I love the bond that I share with my little students.”While this is what some of the teachers had to say, students also have the same love for their teachers. Sharing her opinion on how a teacher is like a second mother, Pooja Balajigari, final year B.com student from St Francis College for Women, says, “A teacher is someone who guides you and is a very important part of every student’s life. In school, a teacher is the one who is always there for a student, just like a mother is at home.” Recollecting an incident from her school days, Pooja narrates, “There was this time in my 10th standard when I scored very less in a particular subject and was very upset about it. My teacher noticed it and came to me to console me. She not only made me feel better but also made sure that I studies better. I ended up getting great results, all thanks to my teacher’s support and guidance.”
