Tipsy man sees robbers escape in red vehicle

CHENNAI: A tipsy construction worker, who had visited a TASMAC outlet opposite the bank, was the one who gave crucial hints to police about the car used by the robbers.Kannan claimed he came to the TASMAC outlet at around 11.30 am. After a few drinks, he was walking on the road when a red van whizzed past. “I got scared when it went close to me and I shouted at the vehicle. A man sitting inside replied in Hindi,” he said.Later, Kannan saw police arriving at the bank. “I inquired and found out that the bank was robbed. I told the police about the red car that had stopped a few metres away. Police then took me inside the bank at 2.30 pm for inquiry and left me only by 6.30 pm,” Kannan said.Policemen convinced him to leave a statement, assuring full safety.
