Thumbs up for India only after Games: Fennell
CGF president was impressed with the high level of competition and said that he was proud of the Games.

New Delhi: Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) president Michael Fennell doesn't want to jump the gun, he wants to wait till the Delhi Games are over before giving India the thumbs-up.

Asked if he would give India a big thumbs up now that the Games are at half-way stage, Fennell on Saturday said: "We still have a few more days and a real thumbs up only after the Games are over."

Fennell, who visited the Karni Singh Shooting Range, was impressed with the high level of competition and said that he was proud of the Games.

"The competition is very very good. Not just the competition, but the facilities are top class. They did the work at the last minute and I must say and they did a very good job of it," Fennell told IANS at the shooting range.

"All events are being held as scheduled. No competition has been cancelled, all the events have been conducted adhering to international rules and everybody can be proud of the Games. It is time for the media to talk positively about the Games," he said.

Fennell, who has earlier been a vocal critic of the Suresh Kalmadi-led Organising Committee, said that operational problems will always be there in all the big Games.

"There have been operational problem at all the major multi-discipline Games. There have been problems here as well, but we have fixed them all in time," he said.
