Discord Hyperlink: Send Clickable Text on Mobile or Desktop
Want to send to a website on a Discord channel or in a DM? You can use the hyperlink markdown feature to add your own text to a shared link! This just involves adding a few symbols to your text. You can use Discord markdown tags whether you're using the desktop app, website, or mobile app. Here's how to use Discord hyperlink on Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, and iPad devices.
Sending Hyperlinks on Discord

How to Hyperlink on Discord

Navigate to a server or Direct Message. You can send a hyperlink in any Discord channel or message. You can find your list of servers in the left panel. If you don't see your Direct Messages, click the Discord icon in the top-left corner (desktop) or tap the textbox icon in the top-left corner (mobile).

Use the format [texthere](linkhere) to make a hyperlink. The text encased in [brackets] will be the text shown. The text encased in (parentheses) will be the link text. For example, type: Check out this article on [wikiHow](https://www.wikihow.com/Discord-Hyperlink). If you don't want Discord to show the embedded contents from your link, add angle brackets to your link text. For example, type [wikiHow]()

Send the message. Press Enter or tap the airplane icon to send your message. Discord will automatically format your hyperlink in your message. You should see your hyperlink with your specified text, along with an embedded preview. If you included angle brackets in your message, you will only see the hyperlink with your specified text. Keep in mind that users clicking your hyperlink will see a pop-up notification that shows the link. They must click Visit Site if they want to continue following your link.

Other Ways to Format Text on Discord

Type # to create big header text. This will make big header-like text in your Discord message. The symbol will go before your text with a space in between them. For example, # this text will be big.

Type ## to create medium header text. This will make medium-sized header text in your Discord message. Again, type the hash symbols before the text you want to enlarge with a space in between. For example, ## this text will be a little less big.

Type ### to create smaller header text. This will make medium-sized text in your Discord message. Type the three symbols before the text you want to resize with a space in between. For example, ### this will be a smaller header.

Type -# to create tiny header text. This will make small text in your Discord message, similar to subtext. Like the other Discord markup, the symbols will go before your message with a space in between. For example, -# this will be subtext.

Type * at the beginning and end to italicize text. There must be no space between the symbols and text. For example, typing *text* will look like text.

Type ** at the beginning and end to make text bold. There must be no space between the symbols and text. For example, **text** will look like text.

Type __ at the beginning and end to underline text. This is two underscores on each side. There must be no space between the symbols and text. For example, typing __underlined text__ will look like underlined text

Type ~~ at the beginning and end to strikethrough text. This is two tildes (~) on each side. There must be no space between the symbols and text. Strikethrough text has a slash through the text. For example, typing ~~strikethrough text~~ will look like strikethrough text

Type || at the beginning and end to spoiler text. There must be no space between the symbols and text. When text has a spoiler tag, it will be hidden unless a user clicks or taps on it. For example, typing ||popular ending|| will become a spoiler tag.

Why can't I hyperlink on Discord?

Make sure you're using the correct symbols. There are plenty of markdown text formatting options on Discord; double-check your formatting to make sure it's correct. To hyperlink, you must type the link text like [hyperlink text](website.url). Be sure to include the https:// at the beginning of the website URL.

Check if you have permission to post. If you're trying to post a hyperlink in a server, you may need certain role permissions to post it. If you don't have permission to post, you can contact a moderator to get your link posted.

Check for and install Discord updates. While most Discord users can now easily create hyperlinks, you may not be able to do so if you're using an older version of Discord. Make sure you are using the latest version of Discord to ensure you have access to the feature.

Restart Discord. Completely close Discord (not just minimize it), and then open it again. If you're using Windows, open your Task Manager and end the Discord task. On Mac, force quit from the Apple menu. On mobile devices, swipe up on the app.

Check for a Discord outage. You can visit the Discord website to check for any current outages. If you see yellow or red under any of the operations, it's likely an error on Discord's end. In this case, you'll need to wait some time for Discord to resolve the issues.

What's your reaction?
