HYDERABAD: The police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including an Oman national, for allegedly practicing black magic and seized incriminating material from their possession.Acting on a tip-off that black magic was being practised at Sultan Shahi area in the Old City here, a joint raid was conducted by the Moghalpura police and a team of Task Force (South Zone) on a house and three persons, identified as Mohammad Abdul Raheem, his son Adbul Khaiser and his friend Jasim Mohammed Saleh alias Yaseen, who is a native of Sur City, Muscat of Oman were caught, police said. Police seized incriminating material from the place during the raid. During the interrogation of the trio, it was revealed that Raheem, along with his son Khaiser and friend Yaseen, was trying to create an impression among the locals that he was in possession of supernatural powers but was in fact cheating them, particularly women, promising cure from various ailments. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force) M Srinivas said that the trio cheated people of money by promising to solve their problems. It was found during the raid that Yaba had illegally converted his five-storey house into a lodge.“Yaseen, who is an Oman national, allegedly tricked patients for Raheem by offering cure through black magic for their severe ailments,” a police officer said. Tension prevailed in the area after locals ransacked the accused’s house following the police raids. Yaba’s brother, Babar, also one of the accused, is absconding. Further investigations are on.
