Mumbai: Security has been beefed up at the twin World Trade Centre towers in central Mumbai after an anonymous letter addressed to WTC threatened to blow up the building on May 24, the police said.
"We will take all necessary step. The entry to the parking area is going to be restricted," the Mumbai police commissioner told CNN-IBN on Wednesday.
He said an investigation has already been initiated in the case and the police have already traced the origin of the letter. "We know the origin of the letter. It's a computer-typed letter and sent by post. We are investigating the matter," the police commissioner said.
The letter was received by the World Trade Centre later on Tuesday. It threatened to blow it up the twin towers on May 24.
Mumbai Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Brijesh Singh told PTI that security has already been beefed up at the premises as a precaution. He said the letter does not give any specific reason for blowing up the twin towers situated in Cuffe Parade.
