Chennai: MN Nambiar, the original villain of Tamil cinema, died on Wednesday at his residence in Chennai following a heart attack.
The 89-years-old actor who breathed his last at 1230 hrs IST at his Gopalapuram residence is survived by one daughter and two sons.
One of his sons, Sukumaran Nambiar, is a politician and a functionary in Tamil Nadu unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Nambiar started his career in 1935 as a villain in Bhaktha Ramadoss and acted in more than 1000 films over six decades.
He also acted in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi cinema but he's best known for playing the villain opposite legendary Tamil actor MG Ramachandran.
Nambiar's memorable films were Aayirathil Oruvan, Ambikapathi and Nenjam Marappathillai.
A Malayalee by birth, Nambiar, who later settled down in Chennai in Tamil Nadu for pursuing a career in acting, was born on March 7, 1919 at Kannur in Kerala.
