KARAIKAL: The Karaikal Struggle Group (KSG), a non-political organisation fighting for separate Union Territory status for Karaikal, has again launched the ‘Karaikal Neglected’ campaign. The general council meeting of KSG ended with a resolution urging the people of Karaikal to take note of the step-motherly treatment meted out to the region by the successive governments in Pondy. “Under the AINRC government, there was no adequate representation for Karaikal region. The 10-km Karaikal-Nagore BG line has been dragging for the past 15 years. But, in the neighbouring Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu, the Nidamangalam-Mannargudi BG line has been erected within a year. The Karaikal-Nagore line is dragging due to the negligence of the Pondy government,” stated a resolution.The KSG has announced that peaceful agitations would be organised, stressing the need for a separate UT status for Karaikal. KSG founders Rama Srinivasan, Thirunavukkarasu, SP Selvashanmugam and other leaders attended the general council meeting.
