He was a fast bowler and a nice person till he lived here, but after going to Bangalore he changed a lot, recalled many youths who played cricket and spent time with Dr Nayeem Siddiqui, an arrested suspected terrorist from Davanagere.
Siddiqui son of Dadapeer, a businessman, resided at Kasturba extension near Bellary Siddamma park. Nayeem studied from high school to PUC here.
A friend of Siddiqui recalled that he was a fast bowler and bowled bouncers while playing cricket in the park at KB extension here. While others said Siddiqui used to advise them not to quarrel, chew pan paraag or gutka as they are harmful. The doctor was a good friend, said many people at the extension when the media visited the area on Thursday.
For last two years he was not living in Davangere but used to come for a visit from Bangalore, where he had gone to study.
“We were shocked to hear that Siddiqui was involved in terror activities, he used to be very simple, silent and never behaved in manner that would make others grow suspicious about him,” opined many women neighbours in KB extension.
