KOCHI: Shobha John, prime accused in the controversial Sabarimala Thanthri case and Varapuzha sex scam, involving a minor girl was arrested from Bangalore on Tuesday.The police team led by Circle Inspector Abdul Salam held Shobha and three others, Abdul Rahman alias Bachu Rahman, K Anil alias Anni and Kannan, all accused in the controversial case pertaining to former Sabarimala Thanthri Kandararu Mohanaru, from a private apartment in the Richmond Road in South Bangalore.The police team found her purchasing clothes from a textile shop and followed her to the apartment.Initially, they identified themselves as tourists from Thiruvananthapuram. But after an hour of interrogation, they revealed their original identities.The police said that they were hiding in the flat for more than a month and police had received information regarding this only last week.The Salam-led team of two civil police, two head constables and a vanitha police moved to Bangalore on Monday evening.The police are expected to present the arrested before court by Wednesday evening.Shobha had been giving the entire police force in the state a hard time.She is the lone woman in the goonda list of the state police. Her arrest will be a major breakthrough for both the controversial cases. The trial of the Sabarimala Thanthri case began last month.The victim of Varapuzha case had submitted before the police that she was offered to over 200 people ever since she was allegedly sold to Sobha John in January this year. The girl also alleged that she had been detained and tortured for one month for refusing to obey Sobha’s directives.
