Rajasthan's CID-CB on  Tuesday asked the Superintendent of Police of Nagaur district to provide mobile phone call details of Congress MLA Udai Lal Anjana, who has been alleged of sexual assault, and the victim.

Rajasthan's CID-CB on  Tuesday asked the Superintendent of Police of Nagaur district to provide mobile phone call details of Congress MLA Udai Lal Anjana, who has been alleged of sexual assault, and the victim.

In a letter to SP Nagaur, Criminal Investigating Department-Crime Branch informed the official that the MLA and woman had two sims each and asked for the call details from activation to September 20, a police spokesman said.

CID-CB visited victim's residence in Bedla road of Udaipur only to find that she was not there for the last 15-16 days, the spokesman said.

On the direction of CID-CB, Nagaur police was also trying to serve a notice to the victim to get her statement recorded, he said.

Udai Lal Anjana, MLA from Nimbahera in Chittorgarh district, was booked for allegedly sexually exploiting a nearly 50-year-old woman since 1984 on the pretext of marriage and forcing her to undergo abortion, charges which he denied.

The woman, a resident of Mundwa, had approached court seeking a case to be registered against Anjana. The case was registered against Anjana in Mundwa following an order by a local court in Nagaur.

Following the court's direction, Anjana was booked under section 376 (rape), 313 (to force abortion against the will of woman), 370 (illegal confinement), 384 (threatening life) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.

The case has been transferred to the CID crime branch as it was related to a MLA of the state, a police official said. Anjana has denied the allegations and claimed that the charges were baseless and were part of a political conspiracy.  He claimed that the woman had made similar accusations in 2000 and said they had been proven wrong by various agencies.
