KOZHIKODE: In the last four years it was a journey for K P Sajeevan from one stage to the other. With stories and scripts for drama for school students. And it is only when he takes a look back he gets to know that he has covered more than 2,000 schools with his drama camp. Now Sajeevan is working to get his name to the Guinness Book of World Records for having conducted the most number of drama camps in schools. “I wrote a book titled ‘Kalimuttahu Oru Nadakam’, after which many of the theatre personalities recommended me to start working with children. With that inspiration I started to work with school students,” said Sajeevan, who is a full-time theatre activist. He still remembers the first platform where he worked with 100 children of the Pavangad School. “The students were very much interested in involving themselves in the theatre. I was amazed by the response of the students and took that as the capital for my future ventures,” he said. He has covered Wayanad, Thrissur, Thiruvanathapuram and Palakkad districts with his theatre ventures. Sajeevan, who entered theatre field from the age of 18, conducts one-day workshops for school students. “I craft stories and scripts for school students. They learn from the process and start working with scripts themselves. I believe that dramas are great teaching tools with which teachers can communicate to the students easily,” he said. He mostly works with the students of class 4th to 12th standard. Sajeevan, who has written more than 20 plays, was involved in amateur theatre that was rampant at his native village of Kallode, Perambra, in his childhood. His work has been acknowledged by many of the theatre personalities of the state. He was also awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship with regard to his work in the field. Sageevan is also known for his work among the theatre personalities like K R Mohandas. “He is a very simple guy and has worked hard to promote his work among the students,” says Mohandas.
