A person’s house is a reflection of their self. If you want to renovate your home and provide it with a fresh feel, check out 'The Artisans Guild' at 7th Cross Road, Panampilly Nagar. They offer a handpicked range of export quality merchandise sourced from all over India and abroad. “Basically we deal with home utility items, gift items and furniture,” says Anil Madhavan, proprietor. With great  craftsmanship combined with natural material, the products here are very appealing and at the same time utilitarian. The sophisticated items on display will surely tempt you to splurge on the traditional as  well as contemporary wooden decor items. “We try to uphold the traditions and at the same time keep ourselves updated on the latest trends and colours,” says Anil who visits fairs in China and Germany frequently. The products are mostly sourced from in and around Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.“The glass items are from Faridabad, the wooden ones from Sarangpur and some doormats exclusively from Allepey,” says Jesna Madhavan.The wide variety of products include photo frames, mirrors, trays, wine racks, antique clocks, magazine racks, book baskets, tea box lanterns, candle stands, all made of wood. A few unique pieces are bead handed cutlery, wooden wall decor, iron forks, copper vases and a few accessories made of brass which are tribal art sourced from Chattisgarh.Antique wooden furniture adds a picturesque touch to any home. They are comfortable as well as stylish. With a wide array of tastefully done accessories and furniture   one can dramatically enhance the beauty of their home in a multifaceted way. The regulars at the place are from in and around Kochi. “The pictures of their shop were very inviting and so I came here since I am moving into a new house. I am looking for a dining table and a few accessories, the items here are not the usual stuff you get anywhere else. They have got some classic pieces,” says Seena, a customer from Panampilly Nagar.They also export their products to places such as Norway, Germany and the US. The prices range from Rs 200 to Rs 40,000. But the customers are more than happy to spend on decorating their home creatively with innovative ideas since they are assured of value for their money. “So far the response has been enthusiastic. We are going to launch a new collection which will include wooden fruit bowls, silver polished trays and many more items within six months with more hand crafting,” says Anil.“We plan to expand to Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode in the future,” he adds. Artisans Guild is open on all seven days of the week. Timing- 10.30am to 7.30 pm.
