PUDUCHERRY: Chief Minister N Rangasamy, on Tuesday, met Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh. The meeting has triggered speculations about Education Minister P M L Kalyanasundaram, who had allegedly engaged a proxy candidate to write his SSLC supplementary exam in a private school in Tindivanam. Meanwhile,Iqbal Singh went to Delhi on Monday evening.It may be recalled that a Congress delegation, led by opposition leader and former chief minister V Vaithilingam, submitted a memorandum to Iqbal Singh on Monday requesting his intervention to involve the CBI for a though probe into the allegations. Meanwhile, the Students Federation of India (SFI), on Tuesday, urged Kalaynasundaram, who had allegedly engaged a proxy to write his SSLC supplementary exam, to quit the post.SFI leaders Hariharan and A Anand said the minister has brought shame to the union territory by indulging in malpractice. They urged Chief Minister N Rangasamy to take proper action against the minister.The SFI leaders said they had already sent petitions to the Lieutenant Governor, Home Ministry and Central Bureau of Investigation to look into the charges against the Education minister.Hariharan and Anand said the student community of the Union territory felt cheated as the minister responsible for education himself  was indulging in malpractice.“Why did the minister choose to write the supplementary exam in Tindivanam? Why did he furnish a temporary address for the purpose?” the student leaders asked.They urged minister to step down immediately to uphold the dignity of the post of minister of education.
