CHENNAI: Reminding Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy about the Supreme Court order on raising the storage level of the Mullaiperiyar dam to 142-feet after considering the report of the Experts Committee of the Centre on the dam’s safety aspects, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said the Kerala government had amended its Irrigation and Water Conservation Act, 2003, fixing the FRL level to nullify the SC order. While expressing concurrence with the view of Chandy that both States have wide-ranging mutuality of interests and cooperation on several fronts and these should be fostered notwithstanding legal disputes and technical issues pending with the SC, Jayalalithaa brought to the notice of Chandy the unwarranted provocation from across the border and Tamil Nadu’s anxieties on the fear psychosis generated in Kerala.
