New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday stayed criminal proceedings against doctors of Apollo Hospital in Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case till February 5.
On November 2, 2006, the Delhi Police had filed a chargesheet against 12 officials and doctors of Apollo Hospital for fabrication of evidence and giving false information to a public servant.
Six doctors — Anupam Sibal, Prasad Rao, Awdesh Bansal, Mukund Pandey, Ali Mohammed Ganai and Abha Gupta — and six staff of the hospital were directed to appear before the court on January 12.
Delhi BJP leader and Pramod Mahajan's friend Sudhanshu Mittal and and Harish Sharma were also summoned on the same day.
The deputy general manager of Apollo Hospital Raji Chandru and director medical services Anupam Sibal have been charged of manipulating hospital records, misleading the police and furnishing false information during press briefings so as to shield Rahul.
