Pseudo IPS officer put behind bars

SOMWARPET: A fraudster who claimed to be an IPS officer was arrested on Friday. Afsar Sheriff, a mutton vendor in Mirle of K R Nagar taluk, got the cell number of a girl, a native of Hosabeedu village and introduced himself as Rahul Gowda an IPS officer in Mysore.
He persuaded her for marriage and they eloped on July 18 to Mysore. He left her in his friend Akshay's house. When she grew suspicious about his activities, she forced him to take her home. The duo drove her to her village. The villagers handed both of them to the police. A case has been registered under various sections of IPC. The police produced them before JMFC court which remanded them to judicial custody of 15 days.
