Production at KTPP hit by snags

WARANGAL: Production of power at the Kakatiya Thermal Power Project (KTPP) in Warangal district was disrupted two months ago.AP Genco officials submitted a report to the government that production would be resumed from Dec 14 but they could not keep up the promise. KTPP chief engineer Mahabaleswar Rao said that there was a technical snag in the main steam control valve. "Engineers have been called to take up the repair works," he said.He said there was no shortage of coal stock at the plant.   It is learnt that about 2.70 lakh tonnes of coal has been stocked at KTPP. APGenco director Anjaneya Rao is camping at the power plant at Chelpur in Warangal district and supervising the works which are on going on a war-footing.Production at the plant was disrupted on Oct 7 due to lack of adequate coal supply during the recent Sakala Janula Samme. Officials decided to take up annual repair works after the strike.But they could not complete the works even though the strike ended as the turbines developed problem following breaking of stainer rods in the filter.
