President returns Cow Slaughter Ban Bill

TUMKUR: President Pratibha Patil has returned the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill-2010, seeking some clarifications and removal of the word ‘buffalo’. Meanwhile, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said the Bill would be sent back to the President for her approval with minor changes.“The word buffalo will be removed from the present Bill,” the chief minister said. He was addressing media persons here after laying the foundation stone for ‘Kotilingeshwara’ at the Siddaganga Mutt.The chief minister added that suggestions of centenarian seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji would be followed to set up a separate commission to safeguard cows.“I am a living example of a person who could scale any height with God’s grace. With the blessings of the seer, I have gained more energy and my self confidence as a leader is soaring,” he said.He hoped that Lord Shiva would ward off all evil to ensure peace and tranquility. Gowda added that new faces would be included during the Cabinet expansion.“Let Sadananda bring happiness to the people of the entire state,” said state BJP chief K S Eshwarappa in a lighter vein.The members of Kotilingeshwara Pratisthapana Samiti, including former ministers Aravinda Limbavali and Sogadu Shivanna, and Kannada Prabha chief editor Vishweshwara Bhat were present.
