The vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested two state government officials on graft charge from Bihar's Saharsa and Purnea districts respectively, a police officer said.
Acting on a tip off, the sleuths laid a trap and arrested the Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Akhileshwar Ram for taking Rs 5,000 as bribe from the complainant Sumant Kumar, a
native of a locality under Saur Bazar police station area in Saharsa district, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Vigilance, Ravindra Kumar said.
Ram, posted as SI at Saur Bazar police station, had demanded bribe in lieu of helping the complainant in a case, he said.
In a related development, another vigilance team nabbed a Block Education Officer (BEO) posted at Baisi block in Purnea district, for taking Rs 5,000 as bribe from Md Hasnain Raza, a teacher, in lieu of some work, Kumar said.
Both officials have been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act, the ADG (Vigilance) said.
