Phone trail nails role of Jaish, NIA asks for voice samples of Masood Azhar

New Delhi: The phone trail from the four terrorists who attacked the Pathankot airbase in January conclusively nail the role of Masood Azhar's Jaish-e-Mohammad, sources said Wednesday.

The four terrorists used the mobile phones of taxi driver Ikgar Singh, who they killed and jeweller Rajesh Verma, who they abducted.

They called seven different numbers in Pakistan. The most number of phone calls were made to +92-345303*** which is linked to the Facebook account of a man named Kashif Jan.

This Facebook account has Jaish propaganda material including speeches and videos of JeM chief Masood Azhar. It also has the photographs of all the four terrorists who were gunned down furing the Pathankot attack.

Calls were also made to +92-3213132*** which belongs to Jaish-Ul-Islam. The address is given as Markaz E Usman O Ali, Railway Link Road, Bahawalpur. Bahwalpur is the headquarters of the Jaish and the hometown of Masood Azhar.

They also made calls to +92-3017775*** which is used by a man simply named Maulana. This phone number is also registered with the Al-Rahmat Trust which Indian agencies believe is a front for the JeM. The registered address of two websites rangnoor.com and alqalamonline are both the same as that of the Al Rahmat trust.

The terrorists also called the number +92-300957*** which is used by the mother of one of the killed terrorists .

India has formally asked Pakistan's JIT, which is now in India in connection with the Pathankot probe, for voice samples of Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Maulana Masood Azhar and his brother Abdul Rauf.

Pakistani JIT headed by Additional Inspector General of Police, Counter Terrorism Department, Muhammad Tahir Rai, and also including ISI's Lt Col Tanvir Ahmed, was handed over a list of 300 questions by the NIA during their day-long deliberations.

"We have asked for voice samples of Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group chief Maulana Masood Azhar and his brother Abdul Rauf as also the voice sample of Khayyam Baber (mother of terrorist Nasir killed during the Pathankot attack)," NIA Chief Sharad Kumar said after the meeting.
