New Delhi At first glance the new Philips Wall Mountable Hi-FI system is the stuff dreams are made of. It is very stylish, weighs only 4.4 kg and is extremely easy to assembly.
The display has a great blue backlight and the second greatest thing about this system: You can mount it on a wall. And the greatest thing: The price.
At Rs 5,999 the MCM 240 is value for money.
But one thing you are going to tire of very quickly is the remote: it looks good, but a little bit of a pain to use.
With new FM radio licenses sold recently, radio is all set to explode and this is the system you could catch the explosion on. But there's one problem, the system loses all your carefully arranged preset stations the moment the power goes.
The CD player on the other hand is great fun. Unlike a lot of new systems it supports MP3 CDs and it has an added benefit.
If you don't have anything to do while listening to music, just stare at the system because it has a viewing window where you can watch your disc play.
If you want a system, which you can use to listen to both your cassettes and CDs then obviously this isn't a system for you because it doesn't have a tape deck.
There is nothing much you can do with the sound. You are limited to enhancing the bass and picking between a few sound presets: pop, jazz, rock and classic.
But club the music with the built in alarm clock that wakes you up to the sweet sounds of the rolling stones and you're always going to wake up on the right side of your bed.
If you want to listen a good music at a great price in your office, study or may be your bedroom this is a great system.
