KOZHIKODE: What else could taste better than the food made by a mother’s hand? And what if a mother could prepare the lunch not only for her child but for all the students of the school? This lucky stroke has been won by the students of the Mohamed Abdurahman Memorial School of Parambil Bazar. Under the programme ‘Ente Curry’ that has been initiated by the school, the students get to have parents make their lunch at school twice a week. In the programme which was started this academic year, the parents of the students would take charge in rotation to prepare food for their children at the school. So, besides having their normal mid-day meals, the students would get to have a special lunch with almost all the delicacies of a ‘sadya’ twice a week. The school which has 28 divisions from I to VII standards, has a total strength of nearly 1,200 students.“ The cost of the special meals is borne by the parents and they do everything from buying the groceries to serving the lunch to all the students,” said Rejeesh, a teacher at the school. The idea of such a programme was developed in the PTA meet, which discussed how the quality of the mid-day meal could be improved in the school. The programme ‘Ente Curry’ has helped the school to develop a great rapport with the parents.
