Islamabad: India today promised to investigate Pakistan's allegation that the son of an official at its High Commission in New Delhi was abducted by unidentified people and released after his photographs were taken with a blood-stained knife in his hands in the middle of three bodies.

Pakistan Foreign Office summoned India's Acting High Commissioner T C A Raghavan and lodged a protest condemning the "premeditated and cowardly act," an official said.

Raghavan has assured the Pakistani government that an investigation would be conducted.

The statement alleged that 19-year-old Roshan Ali was "abducted and harassed by unknown persons in New Delhi on the evening of November 8."

During his detention at an unknown location, the hands of Roshan Ali were smeared with the fresh blood of three dead bodies lying in the room.

He was forced stand next to the dead bodies and hold a large blood stained knife in his hands. He was then photographed in various poses with the dead bodies.

The statement alleged that before throwing Ali out of a vehicle after midnight and taking away all his belongings, a hand written note was stuffed in his pocket.

The threatening note apparently addressed to Roshan Ali's father states that Roshan Ali should be taken out of Delhi within five days because the abductors had photographs that could send him to the gallows.

Indian diplomats said that Raghavan was surprised to see the news of the Pakistan Foreign office summoning him and lodging protest in local TV channels even before he received a call from there.

This is the second time in recent weeks that Pakistan has complained of an incident of harassment of its staff in New Delhi.

Earlier, it had charged that a domestic help of a Pakistani diplomat was under attack in New Delhi for "circulating fake currency."

Pakistan's Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, strongly condemned the alleged kidnapping of Ali.
