BANGALORE: Learning from his past experiences, Governor H R Bhardwaj seems to be treading cautiously about his role post the official submission of Lokayukta’s report on illegal mining.Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function on Sunday, Bhardwaj declined to drag himself into the issue. However, he was quick to add that he would do whatever is legally possible if the Lokayukta submitted the report to him. “If he submits the report to me, then I will do whatever I am supposed to do in accordance with the law,” he said.On the phone- tapping issue, Bhardwaj said, “It is a serious issue. But unless the aggrieved party (the Lokayukta) approaches me, I cannot do anything.” When asked if the mining report is a “fit case” for imposition of President’s Rule in Karnataka, he said, “I have no request from either side (ruling or Opposition) that this warrants President’s Rule or anything”.
