Former model and actor Lisa Ray is back in business with a jewellery show that gives her a chance to explore the traditions and culture of India. Lisa travelled to five cities, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kochi, Delhi and Chennai and explored their culture and tradition of jewellery. She is highly enthusiastic and excited about her first show on small screen which gave her an opportunity to get up, close and personal with the culture of India. “It was almost like a road trip for the both of us (herself and Bindya). I got to experience jewellery shopping differently by asking questions that I wouldn’t have normally. Like how is Hyderabad the city of pearls since there is no ocean next to it,” says Lisa Ray adding, “The show will showcase the art of jewellery making whilst delving into India’s extravagant jewellery traditions that are still prevalent today and make up the country’s rich cultural fabric. That was the idea behind OMG. It gives people a chance to see the working behind the showroom.” The show gave her a chance to dive in the backwaters adorned in all the exotic jewellery from Kochi, eat laddoos wrapped in golden sheets and run crazily on the streets of Delhi and Hyderabad. “That was not it, I met interesting people too. I met this woman in Kerala who makes jewellery from spices. The best part about the show is that it gave me a chance to present my real self on screen and interact with so many different people,” says the beautiful host. “At TLC, we realised there hasn’t really been a show on jewellery, and specifically on gold. That was the idea behind OMG. It gives people a chance to see the working behind the showroom,” says the senior VP and GM - South Asia, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, Rahul Johri.
