KARWAR: The government higher primary school of Targod village near Sirsi has become the first school in the Belgaum Division where teaching-learning process is taking place through laptops.This is one of the five schools in the state where the ‘Computer On Wheel’ project has been implemented on an experimental basis.The elearning process is introduced to 24 students of VII standard and 14 students of VIII standard in the school.Each of the student is provided with a laptop.While all subjects are imparted through the laptops, the students do their home work in their notebooks.Intel, which has taken up the project, has deputed experts to assist teachers for a period of six months.The teachers prepare lessons on a monthly basis with the company providing CDs containing the lessons.Three teachers of the school have been trained in conducting e-classes, said school headmaster of Targod higher primary school, L K Hegde.“It is a new experience for the teachers who had no computer knowledge earlier,” he said.For the children it is a matter of joy to work with laptops, he said.
