With an aim of reviving the traditional art of rural artisans and to promote exclusive cotton fabrics from different states of India, Awadh Haath Kargha, Hastshilp Evam Gramodyog Samithi has organised Cottonfab-2011, an exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts and handloom fabrics at TTD Kalayana Mandapam. Varieties of cotton garments from different parts of the country have been displayed at the fair. Considering huge response from people, the Samiti choose Hyderabad as its market this season for the artisans and the exhibition is being organised in the city for the third time. People have been pouring in the exhibition in large number and showing their interest in the artefacts manufactured by the artisans from the village of the country. The artisans displaying their artefacts are optimistic of getting an overwhelming response. Around 60 artisans from different parts of the country are displaying their work here like the Lucknowi Chikanwork, Rajasthani block prints, Kota Doria, Malmal, Bandhej suits, Afghani and Patiala salwar-suit, Madhya Pradesh Chanderi, Maheshwari, Baagprint, Batik print dress material, Tant and Khantha from W Bengal, Dhakai Jamdani, Sambhalpuri and Ikkat from Orissa, Kalamkari, Mangalgiri, Gadwal from Andhra Pradesh, sarees from Tamil Nadu, Banarasi sarees.Apart from all this, a variety of jewellery like Hyderabadi pearl, Rajasthan stone and metal jewellery and many more from various parts of country are also on display. Visitors can be seen choosing and bargaining for the fabric and handicrafts of their choice. The expo is on till July 10. It will be on till July 10 from 10:30 am to 9 pm.
