No relocation of Beggars Colony

BANGALORE: Claiming that the living standards in the state-funded Beggars Rehabilitation Centre located at Kottigepalya here, has drastically changed for better with the orphans lodged in the colony enjoying better access to health facilities, good food and a sense of security, Karnataka Minister for Social Welfare Narayanaswamy informed that there is no plans to relocate the centre to any other place from its current place.The minister further said that currently over 400 beggars are being lodged in the centre, of which over 80 per cent are from outside. He said that measures are being taken to identify the origin of the inmates in this locality and deport them to their parent states.
