Autorickshaw and taxi unions have decided to go on strike on Tuesday, reports The Times Of India.

The move, decided by a joint action committee of 20 autorickshaw and taxi unions, is “against the Delhi government's inaction against taxi aggregating services like Uber and Ola“.

2. 2nd straight outbreak feared as dengue cases soar in city

After more than 15,000 cases were recorded in the city last year, Delhi could again be headed for a dengue outbreak in the upcoming season. There have been as many as 90 cases till July 23, more than double the number reported during the corresponding period last year (40), reports The Times Of India.

Back-to-back dengue outbreaks are rare. But Dr K K Aggarwal, secretary general of the Indian Medical Association, warned that if the trend of cases continued, there might be another outbreak this year.

3. PWD plans Rs 250cr road revival after rains

After getting flak for the deteriorating condition of roads in the city, the public works department (PWD) will be undertaking a massive exercise to relay and strengthen them after the monsoon, reports The Times Of India.

A Rs 250 crore-plan has been drawn up to repair about 160km of roads, including major stretches like Nelson Mandela Marg, Ulan Bator Marg, Pusa Road, Shankar Road, Benito Juarez Marg, Qutub Minar Road, Arihant Marg in front of Azadpur Mandi, Sukhdev Vihar Road, Bhairon Marg, Rohtak Road, Ring Road, and several others in north Delhi.

India has decided to withdraw children of its diplomats posted in Pakistan from schools in that country . The decision was taken in June 2015 but the Pakistan government leaked the information to the Pak media after over an year. The external affairs ministry had asked high commission staff to send their children back from this academic year, citing security concerns, reports The Economic Times.

Following reports in the Pakistan orts in the Pakistan media, the MEA said on Monday: “It is a normal practice for all countries to re view staffing and related policies for their diplomatic missions, includ ing in view of pre vailing circum stances at those stations. With effect from this academic session, officials posted in the High Commission of India in Islamabad were advised to make arrangements for education of their wards outside Pakistan...“

7. PDP Leader Calls Singh's Visit `Exercise in Futility'

Separatist leaders in Kashmir termed the remarks of Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the unrest in the valley as “meaningless“, while a senior leader of the PDP called Singh's visit as an “exercise in futility“, reports The Economic Times.

During his two-day visit to Kashmir, Singh didn't talk about the suggestions of political engagement with Pakistan and separatist leaders made at an all-party meeting convened by CM Mehbooba Mufti.Influential business and civil society groups turned down the government's invite to meet the minister.

8. To Enhance Women's Safety, Apps May Soon be Integrated with Mobiles

App makers are actively discussing integrating their products designed to ensure women's safety into handsets in the wake of the government notification to install panic buttons in all mobile devices from January 2017, reports The Economic Times.

Some of the well-known personal safety apps, including VithU, Woman Safety Shield, I Feel Safe, Nirbhaya: Be Fearless, I'm Shakti and Secure Her, are compatible with Android OS-based smartphones.

The Union and state finance ministers would on Tuesday debate scrapping the proposed one per cent tax on inter-state movement of goods proposed in the Constitution amendment Bill on goods and service tax, reports The Business Standard.

The Centre has been pushing hard to build a consensus on the legislation so that it can finally be passed in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament.

10. Indian airlines reluctant to fly foreign routes

The much-awaited National Civil Aviation Policy got delayed multiple times as incumbent carriers furiously opposed a proposal by the civil aviation ministry to auction bilateral rights. The reason the government wanted to auction foreign flying rights was because it was concerned about the unutilised bilateral capacity by Indian carriers, reports The Business Standard.

Data show domestic Indian airlines such as Air India, Jet Airways, SpiceJet and IndiGo offer almost 50 per cent fewer seats than foreign airlines operating in India. The data on foreign bilateral utilisation is compiled by the ministry of civil aviation. As of June, domestic carriers were offering 242,365 seats on flights to and from India, compared with 432,456 seats by foreign airlines.
