The new academic session of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) began on Thursday. The students are taken for a tour of the three departments – Biochemistry, Physiology and Anatomy in the campus to acquaint them with the campus. Later the students were taken to their respective departments.

Lucknow: Govt declares Bhaag Milkha Bhaag tax free

The state government has decided to tax free two movies namely Farhan-Sonam starrer Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, based on Milkha Singh’s life and children film Two Little Rascals. In a meeting held by the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the govt. decided to make Two Little Rascals tax free for three months and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag for two months.

Varanasi: Students protest against fee hike

The students of DAV Degree College under Banaras Hindu University (BHU) protested against the college authorities for hike in college fees. According to the students the hike in fees will affect those students who belong to middle or lower class families. The students also said that despite lack of proper facilities, fees have been increased. The students’ union has threatened to strengthen the protest if the hike in fee is not cancelled.

Allahabad: MCI decides to increase 50 more seats

The Medical Council of India (MCI) has decided to increase 50 seats more in the state medical colleges to meet the crisis of doctors. After this decision, Motilal Nehru Medical College and Meerut Medical College have already increased 50 seats respectively. Counseling for admission will again be conducted on September. However, medical colleges of Agra, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, and Kanpur have not decided regarding increase of seats.

Aligarh: Dental Dept of AMU organises free check-up camp in schools

Aligarh Muslim University’s Dental Department organised a free dental check-up camp at three schools. About 80 students participated in the programme. The children were also informed about how and why they should keep their teeth clean. The students were also advised on how to choose tooth brush and keep the teeth away from dental infections.
