Narayansamy spews venom on Baba Ramdev

PUDUCHERRY: Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Prime Minister’s Office V Narayanasamy has accused the BJP of attempting to topple the Congress government at the Center by capitalising on  forums and gurus and swamis, quoting as an example Baba Ramdev. Certain gurus/swamis under the guise of fast were trying to destabilise the integrity of the country and BJP trying to gain maximum mileage out of the same,”  he said. Briefing mediapersons at a press conference on Sunday, he said members  of the BJP, RSS, Bajrang Dal and other Hindu fundamentalist organisations who participated in the fast were much more in number than the supporters of  Ramdev who were but a handful. He alleged that Baba Ramdev had nexus with black money barons and claimed that the ‘five star facilities’ at the venue of  the fast was arranged with their black money. The fast by Baba Ramdev against black money was questionable, he said. He said that during the seven-year tenure of the BJP government led by A B Vajpayee, there was no move to bring out black money, but now Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was taking steps in this regard. Stating that the Prime Minister was taking all steps to introduce the Lokpal Bill in the monsoon session of Parliament, he sought pubic support for the same. Already, the government had taken steps by taking action on several recommendations of the Administrative Reforms Commission for setting up Lok Ayukts in each state, special court to deal with corruption cases and adjudication of the case within one year.He justified the arrest of Baba Ramdev for going back on the promises made to the Center and violating the trust by staging a drama. Narayansamy said that it is the duty of the  home minister to  uphold  law and order and the arrest was done to protect law and order in Delhi and to safeguard the people there. Further he refuted Baba Ramdev’s charge against AICC president Sonia Gandhi and said that he had no locus standi to do so, pointing out that Sonia Gandhi had made several sacrifices for the nation including giving up the country’s most important post.
