Senior superintendent of police (Law and Order) V J Chandran on Monday said that the accused was Appal Raj, son of  Appa Rao, from Kelambakkam in Chennai. He was arrested at the Madupet road junction.Upon interrogating him they discovered that the bike he was riding had been stolen from Rajaji Nagar in Lawspet. Further questioning revealed that Appal Raj had stolen 12 more bikes from the Grand Bazaar, Orleanpet, Muthialpet and Kalapet police station limits. He was unable to sell the bikes due to the lack of vehicle papers and had hidden them  in Chennai.
